If you always wonder how on earth bacon gets evenly cooked when they do it in a Restaurant? Easy: They bake it. So next time you do some bacon try to do it on the bacon instead of the pan. Around 400 degrees should be perfect.
SLICE CHERRY TOMATOES ALL AT THE SAME TIME
Cherry Tomatoes are amazing. But they are really hard to cut. If you have two plastic lids of the same size, put your tomatoes in one, facing up. Then cover them with the other lid and press slightly. Now you can grab the knife and cut them evenly.
If you want pancakes with shapes you can simply use some cookie cutters, put them in the pan and watch those pancakes grow. They will probably be shaped like christmas things, but how can we complain?
GUACAMOLE ALWAYS FRESH
Prevent the guacamole from getting brown with this easy trick: Put it in a container and then add a thin layer of water to the top. Water will stop the air and it will last longer. Whenever you want to eat it, just pour the water on the sink.
HARD ROCK BUTTER?
To warm hard butter you can try this simple and effective trick. Grab a glass big enough and run hot water on it. Then, put the empty glass over the butter and leave it until it's cold. It will warm up the butter and make it easier to cut.
PEELING AN ORANGE
The proper way to peel an orange without dying in the attempt is easier than you think. First, you should cut the two bottoms, up and down. Then, do a vertical incision, grab the orange from every end of it and open like you see in the picture.
To peel garlic: Grab two small bowls of the same size. Put them together one on top of the other to create a closed container. Shake it as hard as you can for a minute or less. Open the container and you will see the garlic peeled. Isn't this magical?
COOKIES ALWAYS MOIST
If you are the ones that bake cookies in big lots and they always get rock hard, you can do this: Instead of putting them in a cookie jar, put them in a tupperware with an apple wedge. The apple will keep the cookies moisturized. Replace the apple if needed.
SMOKED TUNA WITH… TOILET PAPER
Get smoked tuna easily with some pieces of toilet paper. Open the can, wet the toilet paper in the oil of the can and light a corner of the paper. You can wait to the fire to be extinguished, or turn it off by yourself. Take the paper and enjoy!
SOFT BROWN SUGAR
If you hate that the brown sugar always keeps getting hard, there's a trick for that too. Store it with a piece of bread. We are not going to get very scientists about it. But it really works.
REPLACE ICE CUBES WITH FROZEN FRUITS
If you replace ice cubes with frozen fruits in your drinks, you won't have that watery taste that you hate. And in the end, when you finish the drink, you can eat the fruit.
CUTTING CAKE WITH DENTAL FLOSS
To cut birthday cakes even, you can rush to the bathroom and grab your dental floss. Just make sure it's unscented (You don't want to mess with the taste of chocolate) and cut it like you see in the picture. You can also use this trick in soft cheese.
CAKES WITHOUT MOUNTAINS
If your cakes keeps coming out of the oven raised or indented, you should grab an old towel, cut it so it fits the diameter of your cake tin and bake it like usually. The towel will make the heat even and there will be no mountains in your cake.
TIN FOIL MEALS
You're about to learn a really easy way to cook without pots and pans. You throw the ingredients into a sheet of aluminum foil, ball it up, and hold it over a fire. Once it's done, you pull it out of the fire, open it carefully, and dig in. Delicious!
Get an ice cube tray and pour in excess juice from fruits and vegetables. You can also freeze leftover broth this way instead of letting it go to waste. When you need some extra fruit or vegetable juice or broth for a soup or stew, you will have it handy!
If you sneakily pop off the stem of an avocado, you can look at the color underneath. An avocado that is too ripe will be brown under the stem, and will be useless. An avocado that is just right will be green underneath the stem.
NATURALLY FLAVORED WATER
Get your favorite fresh fruit and put it in a jar with ice and water. The fruit flavor will diffuse into the water. You can also stir in herbs for extra flavor. You can eat the fruit when you're done too. Have fun coming up with recipes for flavored water.
If you want to know if an egg is fresh or not put it in a bowl of water. If it sinks on its side, it's perfectly good. If it sinks standing up, it's on its lasts hours, boil it right away. If it floats, just throw it away.
PERFECT EGG BURGER
If you love egg burgers but you find them hard to eat without making a mess, just do as you see in the picture: Do a hole with a glass and put the egg in it. Then cover with cheese and enjoy this gift from heaven.
Use magnets for everything: For organizing spices, for storing knifes or even cookbooks. There's nothing that a magnet can hold (well, maybe your fridge) Just put magnets wherever you want. Just make sure they are strong enough.
If you are tired of having your freezer unorganized and your bags keep falling every time you open it, buy a couple of magazine holders and put them over the shelf horizontally.
COVER YOUR DRINKS
When having an outdoor party or just chilling in your backyard, you can suffer the continuous falling of bugs, leaves, seeds, or whatever there is outside. Avoid this by putting a muffin liner upside down and a straw.
PERFECT ICE CUBES
I'm sure all your ice cubes look like the one in the second picture. Mine too. But there's a quick trick that can make your ice cubes clear and elegant: Boil the water before putting it on the freeze.
AVOID THE FLOOD.
When you can't pay attention to the pot where you are boiling water put a wooden spoon on top of it. That will keep the water from boiling over and you don't have to run across the house.
You can use an apple slicer to cut potatoes the perfect size for frying them. This way they will all be the same size and they will be cooked evenly.
You can make your own sushi rolling mat by putting two pieces of duct tape upside down and filling the space with kabob sticks. Just make sure there's no room for the rice to touch the glue of the tape.
SHARPEN YOUR KNIVES AT HOME
If your knives are not sharpen don't panic, you won't have to get new ones. Grab a ceramic bowl or mug, and run the knife against the rough bottom borders.
NO MORE STALE BREAD
To save your bread from going stale you have to run water over it and when it gets moist wrap it in tin foil. Then put it in the oven at 200 degrees for a few minutes. You will have fresh bread again.
Garlic leaves a smell that never goes away. There's an easy trick to fight it. I'm sure you have plenty of stainless steel in your kitchen. From spoons to even your sink. Rub your hands against steel while washing them. It's magical, I know.
If you dropped too much salt in your stew or soup, there's salvation. Put a potato in it. It will absorb the extra salt. Once boiled, just fish it. You're welcome.
To keep your vegetables fresh wrap them with paper towels and then put them in plastic bags before storing in the fridge. They won't last forever but they'll remain fresh a little bit longer.
HERBAL ICE CUBES
If you have extra leafs of herbs put them in an ice tray with olive oil and them to the freezer. You can put the ice cubes in your meals. They will melt and add more flavour to your preparations.
NO MORE BROWN AVOCADOS
Your avocados will stop getting brown if you paint each side with olive oil and then storage it in a plastic bag. This will work as a shield for oxidization and your avocados will remain fresh for a longer time.
CLEAN DROPPED EGGS
If you dropped an egg on the floor at least once, you probably know that they are hard to clean. There's a trick for this too: pick up the shell and pour salt all over the liquid. It will absorb the agg and you can sweep it easily.
CLEAN GLASSES WITHOUT BREAKING THEM
Wash the glasses in hot water. Then put them upside down in a cooling rack or oven rack. If you don't one, use something to elevate the glass, like two chopsticks. Once dry, polish the edge with a clean towel.
If you need to decorate a cake but you don't want or you don't know how to use icing, cut a piece of paper with the patterns you like. Then place the stencil over your cake and pour powdered or colored sugar.
KNEADING WITH A BOTTLE
You probably know this one. If you don't own a rolling pin and you want to make some homemade pizza for your mates, grab a glass bottle (bottles of wine are the best) and knead with it.
If you wake up the following morning with some pizza slices in your fridge, have a breakfast of champions by heating them in a casserole, not in the microwave. They will be incredible.
POTATOES WITHOUT ROOTS
Store your potatoes with apples. It sounds a bit ridiculous but they prevent the growing of roots. Apples have ethylene, and that is what does the trick. Try it and you'll see.
HACKING A TART PAN
If you only have one big tart pan but you want to do a small one, use tinfoil to build some kind of wall and addapt the pan to any size you want (As long as it is smaller, of course)
CUT EGGS PERFECTLY
Sometimes when you cut boiled eggs they crumble. To avoid this, after you boil them put the knife behind cold running water. This way you can have a clean cut.
If you forgot the meat in the oven and it got overcooked you need to cut it in slices, put the slices on a plate and add some cutted onion, tomatoes and a little bit of olive oil, lemon juice and vinegar. It will get moisturized again in a minutes.
If you cover the apple slices with flour they won't go all the way down. Just put some flour on a plate and bathe the slices before you cook them.
THE PROPER PEPPER
If you grab a pepper you'll see that it has bums, that are better seen when cutted in half like in the picture. If there's three of them, it's sweeter and better for salads. If there's four bums, it's sour and for cooking.
To heat the leftovers evenly you don't have to do much: Dig a hole in the middle. That way heat will be distributed evenly and your last minute lunch will be perfect.
An elegant and truly delicious way to keep cold a white wine, is applying totally frozen grapes in the glass. That way the wine won't get watery and the wine experts won't hate you.
When you need some juice and your lemons were in the refrigerator for some time and got a little bit hard, "massage" them with the palm of your hand for a minute. Trust me: It will make a difference when juicing.
A trick to make the slices of cheese perfect is to anoint the knife (which must be sharp) with a few drops of oil on both sides, which will cause it to slip when cutting and it will not break the cheese.
HOMEMADE CHOCOLATE CHIPS
Did you run out of chocolate chips? No problem! Simply place a chocolate bar in a plastic bag and release your rage by hitting it with a kitchen roller or a hammer.
A GLASS IN THE MICROWAVE
Put a glass of water in the microwave when you need to heat pizza or bread. That way the vapor will stop them from drying. If what you are heating is for example a plate of noodles or rice, pour some water over the dish to make it moist.
