THE FOUNTAIN HEAD
You think Ariana Grande invented this? No, my dear, this goes back to the 90s. Back then, the ponytail was considered the higher, the greater. This is one trend to be surely forgotten.
Lizzie McGuire’s Sense of fashion
There was always so much going on during Lizzie's appearances: fishnets sleeves, pieces of hair painted in red, pink, orange, lots and lots of bracelets, colorful bags. She was a rainbow.
KIMBERLY’S PINK CLOTHES IN POWER RANGERS
I was around four years old when I was a huge fan of the Power Rangers, and of course, Kimberly was my favorite. She always managed to get some pink item on her looks, so we could remember which ranger she was.
BUFFY, THE VAMPIRE SLAYER PREMIERE
I don't know where to begin: the strapless dress, the floral sweater with the faux dead animal around her neck, the purse, and don't even let me get started on the hair. That was the kind of do you asked for your sweet sixteen parties.
THE CRUNCHY CURLED HAIR
I still don't know why, or how, or who hated people so much they thought it was a great idea to make little crunchy curls a huge thing back then, but they were awful and terrible.
BEVERLY HILLS 90210
We simply cannot talk about fashion in the nineties without talking about Beverly Hills 90210. Donna's dresses and her tiny waist, for example, were something to die for. And of course, every single teenage girl back then wanted Brenda's hats.
One of the most magical things about the Halliwell sisters was their fashion sense. I mean, being powerful ladies in the late '90s in San Francisco? Each one of them had a distinctive personal style, but I like Prue's dresses.
This is the time where the supermodel term was invented. They were also known as the "Big Five": Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington, Tatjana Patitz, and Linda Evangelista, they were the queens of the runways.
BRAD AND GWYNETH, LOOKING CASUAL
Not everything with these two was about pulling great matching outfits with designer's dresses or Armani suits, oh no. They also like to wear casual, with oversized sweaters, leather jackets and washed up jeans.
THE MESSY LITTLE BRAIDS
If you are a current fan of boho and Coachella, this was probably the way you used your hair back in the 90s, which is totally fine, they must have been a terrible experience when you needed to brush your hair. Ouch.
COURTNEY LOVE AND KURT COBAIN
He was the king of grunge, and probably both of them were the most influential couple in 90s fashion. She used to wear dark makeup, and baby doll dresses, while his sense of fashion included mismatched, and oversized outfits
She was the "It" girl of that time, and she ruined everything when she came out as a shoplifter. Her tomboyish style was something every girl wanted to imitate. She is our queen.
JENNIFER LOPEZ AND WESLEY SNIPES
Ok, JLo, what the hell were you wearing? Is that a pair of pants or a long skirt? I can't even… And what about the hair? Thank god you became such a huge fashion icon and we can forgive you for this huge mess.
The porcupine hairstyle was a huge deal back then. You could be a pop singer and look like a rockstar with no effort at all. Of course, all those clips in your head caused a terrible headache after an entire night.
Denim is always a must in every person's wardrobe since millennial times, but back in the nineties, everything went crazy, Like, literally. Even you could wear it with black socks and a little black dress.
His baby face was everything a girl wanted to introduce back home to their parents, and what every guy wants to have. It's like the opposite trending style where beards are a hit everywhere.
BAYWATCH RED BATHING SUITS
Pamela Anderson and her incredible body strategically highlighted by a cut one-piece were what launched this gorgeous blonde to mainstream fame and what made you start the gym.
I always liked her sense of style, every look was a statement, something quite strange to find in such a young person. And of course, she was a fan of wearing scarves around her neck matching the outfits.
MANDY MOORE’S SWEET STYLE
This is probably not the greatest example of her fashion sense, but she used to dress really nice and girly. Pink was always on her looks, except that time where she became quite a Goth, but we like to forget that terrible period of time
TROUSERS AND DRESSES
The first time I saw a girl wearing a trouser and a dress was Britney Spears in the Overprotected video. And she looked like a queen back then. Of course, is a terrible trend if you think about it today, but whatever, we can always burn the pictures.
Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis Grunge Collection
Marc made his defining career moment as the creative director of Perry Ellis in a total grunge collection that got him fired, but we can't help but love it. Plaids, cashmere, beanies, and Doc Martens, all loved.
THE BLUE EYESHADOW
Blue eyeshadow the bomb in 90's and that is why you can see many red carpets from that time filled with girls looking like you hit them with Homer's makeup pistol.
Wide-leg jeans, arm filled with multicolored beaded bracelets called Kandi, and all rainbow everything characterized this fashion collection, all surrounded by peace and love.
She was so young back then, that's why her wardrobe included clothes like T-shirts, maxi skirts, scarf belts, crop tops and even chockers, which are a hit nowadays. We love you, Reese.
Another "It" girl from back then, with her unique looks, kind of a childish meets flowers kind of face, her grungy sense of fashion was amazing, she used to wear dark makeup, choppy hair, tattoos
THE TWO CLIPS
Please, never, ever bring this trend back again. If you are not a child, don't wear two clips on the front side of your hair. Who made them believe they looked good?
SABRINA, THE TEENAGE WITCH
So, a ribbed turtleneck is short-sleeved and also blue jeans? Everything about it is so 90s, you could almost call it "magical" (no pun intended)- Bring back this look, please.
MY SO-CALLED LIFE
Angela was the actual representation of being a misfit, and that went well with her oversized flannels and combat boots, all characteristic of her unconfident character. We always root for the underdog.
This is probably my favorite look from the 90s. My mother used to do my hair like that to go to school. Of course, they gave me terrible nicknames, but it was a really comfortable hairdo to wear.
GWYNETH PALTROW AND BRAD PITT'S RED CARPET REIGN
Team Angelina? Team Jennifer? Oh no, if you are old enough, you must remember the king and queen of the red carpet. The couple was always on the red carpet in coordinating outfits, even with matching haircuts
RACHEL GREEN’S SENSE OF STYLE (AND HAIR)
If you were a young woman back in the nineties, you went at least once in your life to your hairdresser and asked him for the "Rachel Green's haircut" It was incredible, but she was the only one to pull it off.
British invasion in the 90s was all about girl power, and you could pick one of them to imitate their fashionista sense of style: Scary, Baby, Ginger, Sporty, and Posh.
Liv Tyler was the most famous 90s babe and she became a fashion icon, with her cropped top sweater, all fuzzy alongside the plaid skirt, with lace-up combat boots, all of them are still worn these days.
SEX AND THE CITY
Repeat after me: Carrie Bradshaw is our queen. She started so many trends still worn nowadays that I don't even know where to begin. We owe her so much, that all I can do is read a Vogue to thank her.
She made herself a star with the movie "Clueless", and every girl on this planet wanted not also her closet and her sense of style, but also that kind of "app" she had where a computer picked her outfits.
BRAD AND JENNIFER
I was rooting for you, Jennifer. You were the one. And also, this is the time were Brad looked better than ever, I think. I can't say the same about her; those hair extensions weren't looking that nice.
NOTTING HILL’S CAST DURING ITS PREMIERE
Hugh Grant was such a babe back then, and of course, all I can think about was Julia Roberts look when she had the first date with him, wearing that pretty jacket with the braided hair. We love both of them.
BRITNEY SPEARS IN “CRAZY”
That green crop top was everything a girl wanted to owe and wear in her life. Also, she did her hair a little less oxygenated blonde and used to wear it more like beach sun kind of color, which is easier to maintain.
BRITNEY AND JUSTIN’S DENIM MATCHING OUTFIT
I don't even have somewhere I can start talking about this. It is probably the most iconic and known matching outfit from the nineties. She even had the purse made of denim! That's what I call commitment.
They were so much, and I don't mean this in a good way. They were like the opposite of the Spice Girls, fashion-wise speaking. Their outfits didn't match at all and don't even let me get started with the hair. So terrible.
VICTORIA AND DAVID MATCHING OUTFIT
Ok, this is the leather-ish version of Britney and Justin's denim outfit. And it is hideous on the same level. Of course, nowadays they dress like the king and queen of the world, so we can forgive them
Apparently back then you could go to a party dressing the same way you used to go to the beach. The strapless top, the sun marks, those high platforms are still worn nowadays but they don't convince me at all.
Hey, she ain't no Hollaback girl. Or at least we think so. The things I can remember the most about her looks back in the nineties are her hair and the different shades of lipstick she used to wear, all of the matching with a perfect skin.
Before making the terrible mistake of becoming Tom Cruise's wife, Katie Holmes used to be a fashion icon for the common girls like myself that enjoyed watching Dawson's Creek. All of her styles were kind of preppy and classic
Although Monica Geller (the character she portrayed in Friends) always dressed well, she didn't manage to do it so flawlessly in real life. In fact, it was quite the opposite. We still don't know what was going on with those tiny curls.
BRITNEY SPEARS’ DRESSES
If you grew up in the 90s, what you really wanted in life was a Tamagotchi and at least a dozen of Britney Spears' dresses. Like, seriously, she was the only one who could pull them off, but it was worth the try
Her wardrobe included pieces that a lot of women wore at the time, whether they were chic wardrobe staples like little black dresses and slip ons or more casual looks worn with a comfortable pair of jeans.
THE KARDASHIAN FAMILY
The Kardashian's weren't the fashionista hit they are nowadays, but they tried. Of course, Kris Jenner was in the spotlight rather than their teenage kids who are the current queens of fashion and reality shows.
So… if you left out little bits of hair of your hairdo you were considered trendy back then. It was mostly made to make a polish look a little more informal.
THE MALE-BLEACHED HAIR
Bleached blonde a hit, especially amongst male pop singers, but they didn't look so cute at all. I mean, they ruined Justin Timberlake for me, and that's not something to forgive so easily
